It’s the end of the road for TIBCO Nimbus. The business process management platform will no longer be available for renewal or new subscription from 2nd September 2024.

Colin Gibbs, Head of Optimisation at Pace, believes with change comes opportunity.

First released in 1997, Nimbus has become the BPM platform of choice for many organisations (there are over 100,000 licenses in use globally), thanks to its focus on making processes understandable across all areas of a business.

TIBCO has never taken its development into the modern era though. Its web-based version has always been light on functionality. It has also missed opportunities to integrate with other process-related technologies, such as low-code app development, process mining and analytics.

Pace’s Colin Gibbs thinks its demise could be your chance to get on to a more fully functional BPM platform built for a browser from the outset.

Gibbs says: “There’s a lot of performance-related information that connects to process. Process mining can tell you how a process is currently performing, if you’re achieving the throughput rate you intended, how long it is taking, and where it can be improved. You could integrate a user-friendly front-end that governs your process with all of that behind the scenes.

“That’s never been done at TIBCO, but there are other business-friendly platforms doing exactly that.”

A new platform also offers an opportunity to audit your business processes. To clean house, optimise, standardise, and take advantage of the next generation of technologies.

Gibbs says: “You can consolidate and streamline your processes, then you can automate them, and connect to the latest technologies around data insights and analytics, freeing your people up to build relationships and make decisions.

“That has always been very difficult to do with Nimbus because the integrations haven’t been there, whereas they could be with other applications.”

With more experience migrating Nimbus content than any other organisation, Pace can collaborate with you to build your business a roadmap to migrate. Pace is also able to recommend an alternative solution and deliver a project to transition you to it.
