Hybrid, Full-time
Mid-Senior level

At Pace, our Consultants genuinely care about the impact our work has on our customers and their customers alike. We are ‘problem solvers’ who call on our collective experience, knowledge and skills to support customers to access benefits early.

We are reimagining how transformation services are delivered, and our work is having a material impact on people’s lives.

Pace is building a team of specialists aligned to our Transformation service line, on an exciting new client engagement. This team will work closely with a newly-formed entity specialising in scientific and technological research, based in Central London. As a Project & Programmes Specialist, you will be at the heart of a programme directive aimed at advancing the horizons of scientific research, improving people’s lives on a global scale.

As a project professional with strong consulting skills, your role will be to ensure that our customer receives the right programme management expertise and delivery support required to achieve their strategic objectives.

Location: This is a Hybrid role with 3 days a week on-site in London

Typical Accountabilities of a Pace Consultant will include:

  • Define and agree the approach, plan and resources required to deliver the scope of work
  • Build strong relationships and work closely with Programme Directors, Product teams and external stakeholders, providing ongoing programme and project management support
  • Managing and reviewing project proposals, as well as necessary documentation
  • Interface with internal PMO teams and cross-collaborate with PACE core project and communications teams, understanding requirements from wider functions such as procurement and finance
  • Identifying and managing any risks to the project
  • Plan, co-ordinate and facilitate stakeholder workshops and events
  • Project reporting – extensive experience in reporting project status, progress, and issues within the project team as well as to managers and staff, and relevant business stakeholders

The successful applicant will bring:

  • Demonstrable, end-to-end project management experience in a fast-paced, unstructured environment (ideally start-up, scale-up or similar). Experience within early-phase projects, having established processes, governance and infrastructure will be strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. Prince2, Agile, APM, PMP, MSP) and ideally certified
  • Experience of independently managing medium to large scale projects (in excess of c. £500K+ in value) with roughly 5+ years’ project management experience
  • Strong stakeholder management skills – high levels of maturity, ability to engage with C-suite stakeholders across business functions
  • An ability to work comfortably within sometimes ambiguous settings, understanding that the role will evolve as the programme develops and demonstrating adaptability

What’s in it for you?

  • An opportunity to join a high-growth scale-up consulting firm challenging the broken model of management consulting, on a mission to create environments that thrive for our clients
  • Opportunities to gain hands-on experience in challenging environments; you will work on transformative engagements across sectors including healthcare, legal, aviation, technology and more
  • A dedicated focus on your individual personal development: managed through annual performance appraisals, individual personal development plans, and our bi-weekly ‘continuous conversations’ programme
  • Additional professional development is available through a personal training budget (subject to approval of a relevant business case)

A competitive salary plus additional benefits including:

  • 25 days’ annual leave, plus an additional days’ leave for your birthday
  • Annual leave purchase: buy up to 10 additional days of leave per annum
  • Reservist leave: up to an additional 10 days of paid leave to fulfil reservist commitments
  • Enterprise Management Incentive – become a shareholder of Pace
  • Private health insurance
  • AVIVA workplace pension scheme
  • AIG life assurance
  • Save 30-60% on an electric car through The Electric Car Scheme
